Pub installs defibrillator after customer has suspected heart attack
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is used to treat people suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest.
Ian Robinson, manager at The Black Bull Inn, said: “Luckily we knew what to do and ensured the patient’s safety until the ambulance arrived. But the incident really highlighted to us the importance of having something like an AED on site.”
The pub held various events including quiz nights and raffles while local customers also helped out with personal donations to help raise the funds to purchase the equipment.
“We’re really proud of our regulars and the rest of the community in getting behind us to raise the money.” said Robinson “Everyone’s been really keen to help out in any way they can.”
The AED has been installed at the Black Bull so it can be accessed by the whole community, as it is open for business longer than any other local business.
The pub has also trained 40 people across four training sessions, which were provided by the North West Ambulance Service and covered how to use an AED along with other life-saving skills like resuscitation.
