Around £50m-worth is business it picked up from DBC Foodservice, which entered administration in March. The largest former DBC account it has maintained is supplying frozen, chilled and ambient food to Barracuda’s circa 200 pubs.
The remaining £100m of new business has been generated from contracts including The Restaurant Group, Coffee Republic and Akkeron Hotels.
Brakes chief operating officer Ian Goldsmith attributed the business pick-up to better food quality and service levels. “We are constantly evolving as we seek to add value to our customers’ businesses,” he told the Publican’s Morning Advertiser’s sister publication The Grocer.
“Our ethos is to deliver great food, backed by best-in-class logistics and excellent customer service, all with the reassurance of our market-leading Corporate, Social & Environmental responsibility (CSER) policy.”
