We had a very slow day yesterday. I said to one of the staff that it is worse than watching paint dry.

Although, we did have some Spanish people in though who wanted to watch GB vs Spain in the basketball.I had to change one of the TVs over to show this but it is hard to judge as there are so many sports going on during the day.

I stayed working in the pub until about 8.15pm but then I went for a walk around Westfield Shopping Centre. I sit on a local business group so I was asking businesses how they were doing. A lot of staff in the shops said it was a waste of time opening until 11pm. Although the bars in the shopping centre - the Cow and the Calf were busy.

When I got back at 10.30pm we were rammed. The staff said it started to pick up at about 8.45pm. I think we must have got people in after one of the late events.

We had a lot of Japanese and American trainers and support staff in last night. When I walked in I heard the pop of some bubbly and we sold a couple of bottles - turns out one of their team had won a medal.

We shut the pub at 2.10am. It was a pleasant surprise after such a slow day.

I am hoping today is busier because of the start of the athletics and I think we might be busier as people can’t get into Westfield without an Olympic ticket today.

You can’t predict trade at all.
