The ad, which premiered on the first official day of spring, was aired during Emmerdale on ITV1, will run for five weeks and is supported by national radio, outdoor, PR, digital and social media.
Set in the Ochil Hills in Perthshire, the television ad features a cast of animals native to the Ochil Hills, including a rabbit, deer, ladybird and an owl who appeared in the Harry Potter movies.
The star of the ad is a mole who is thrown into the air by a gushing geyser and is later seen playing a happy tune into a range of Highland Spring bottles.
The new ad follows hot on the heels of new packaging for Highland Spring, which is dominated by a vibrant purple hue and takes on a more contemporary tartan appearance with an arc of colour reinforcing brand provenance.
Highland Spring is the number two bottled water brand in the UK with an overall share of 9.7% of the total packaged water market and the number one sparkling water with a 14.1% share. The brand was recently announced as a 'superbrand' for the sixth year running.
Paul Condron, Highland Spring's head of brand marketing, said the company was keen to convey the feelgood nature of the brand in its new advertising. He described the new television treatment as a fresh, new direction for the brand that will resonate with the consumer. "The TV ad brings a little joy and will put smiles on faces," he said.
