The brewer urged licensees from Yorkshire and Teesside to use the new branded glasses at the Make mine a Schooner trade event at the Biltmore Bar & Grill in York. The glasses are available for its premium lager brands, Heineken, Amstel and Tiger.
New weights and measures regulation introduced last October prompted the launch of Heinken’s schooner glass.
Heineken regional sales director for York and Tees Duncan Barlow said: “We welcome the new two-thirds of a pint measure and the boost it will bring for many of the region’s pubs, hotels and restaurants. Heineken is planning to deliver half-a-million new branded glasses into trade outlets throughout the UK in 2012 to give licensees the opportunity to extend consumer choice and capitalise on the sales boost that a new drinking experience can offer.
“Our stylish, new schooner glass will encourage more pub and restaurant diners to choose premium beer as an accompaniment to food. Research also suggests that the glass will also appeal to male and female drinkers who see the new two-thirds pint glass as the perfect ‘halfway house’ between traditional pint and half-pint beer serves.”
