Mulholland re-elected as chair of Save the Pub Group

Greg Mulholland has been re-elected as Chair of the All-Party Save the Pub Group Group at its AGM last week.  Grahame Morris MP was also elected as a vice chair.

Morris, the Labour Member for Easington, joins Karen Bradley MP (Con, Staffordshire Moorlands) and Brian Binley MP (Con, Northampton South) as vice chairs of the group.  The group is now presided over by Labour Peer and former vice-chair Lord Bilston. There are now over 120 members and peers in the Group, a number which continues to grow.

Mulholland said: “I was honoured to be re-elected by the Save the Pub Group to lead their efforts to resolve the many serious issues facing the nation’s pubs today.

“I am also delighted that Grahame has agreed to become a Vice-Chair of the group. He has been a vocal advocate for the rights of landlords and the importance of pubs in community life, and it is right that he takes his place alongside stalwarts Karen Bradley, Brian Binley and Lord Bilston at the forefront of the fight to defend licensees and energise brewing.

“I look forward to continuing to work alongside group members, CAMRA, and those within the trade as we seek to preserve and protect the Great British pub.”

Morris said: “With on average 16 pubs closing each week I recognise the need to apply pressure to local and central government to maintain the British pub as a vital community and social hub.

“This requires finding solutions to the many problems facing the British pub and looking at the serious challenges they face as businesses.

“I’m delighted I can play an active role in Parliament in achieving these aims.”
