Holt: first pub for brewery
Kirkstall Brewery Company, the Leeds-based brewing venture which was revived earlier this year by Vertical Drinks managing director Stephen Holt, has acquired its first pub.

The new firm, which launched in June, has acquired the freehold of the Old Bridge Inn in the Kirkstall area of Leeds for an undisclosed sum, off an asking price of £225,000.

Kirkstall plans to carry out an extensive refurbishment programme prior to reopening the Old Bridge Inn as a flagship outlet for its real ales in the New Year.

Holt, who has a wealth of experience in the beer industry, launched the Kirkstall Brewery Company, an independent brewery situated beside the Leeds/Liverpool Canal, in the shadow of the original Kirkstall Brewery.

Established in 2003, Vertical Drinks is the European importer and distributor of Sierra Nevada beers from California, USA, and also handles the sales and marketing for a number of other premium beers in the UK.

Christie+Co acted on behalf of the vendor.
