The category, sponsored by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser, includes the only pub to make it to the finals, the Fence Gate Inn with its Thai lemon grass, garlic, chilli & ginger sausages.
It is up againast pork, leek & bacon sausages from Cranswick Country Foods and Cumberland pork sausages from JC Rook & Sons Foodservice.
Fifteen finalists have made it through across five categories, whittled down from over 280 entries.
“We had a fantastic level of entry into the competition this year, breaking all previous records, which just goes to show the superb array of quality sausages available in the catering sector today,” said BPEX foodservice trade manager Tony Goodger.
“Sausages continue to be one of the most popular foods eaten out of home – appealing to both adults and children alike. In the run up to British Sausage Week (31 Oct to 06 Nov) the Foodservice Sausage of the Year is an opportunity to showcase pork sausages made with Quality Assured ingredients, including Red Tractor Pork, which can be used to satisfy growing customer concerns about the food they eat.”
The final 15 sausages will be pitted against each other at Butchers’ Hall in London on 21 October, with the highest scoring sausage crowned Overall Champion.
