The BASC Taste of Game Season campaign will run throughout the game season with events held around the UK to highlight the benefits of game meat as local, wild and nutritious.
Events will include a BASC Taste of Game Evening at the Griffin Inn, Fletching, East Sussex and an All in the Game Supper at Llanerch Vineyard, Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan.
Westminster Kingsway College in London will also host a game seminar with many more events taking place across the UK.
“BASC surveys have shown that half the population have yet to try game,” said BASC’s director of communications Christopher Graffius. “They are missing out on one of the best elements of British food. BASC’s Taste of Game campaign aims not to preach to the converted but to take game to this who have yet to realise its benefits.
“Game meat is a superfood. It is lean, nutritious, easy to cook and extremely versatile. It is affordable and can be locally sourced. Game meat can be enjoyed all year round but it is at its very best at the height of the shooting seasons so I would encourage anyone who has not already done so to give it a go.”
Events, recipes and tips for preparation can be found at www.basctasteofgame.org.uk. The website also includes links to the Code of Good Shooting Practice and other relevant guidelines and legislation.
