Geronimo’s new flagship site

Geronimo Inns, the pub operator acquired by Young’s late last year, is to open a new flagship site called the Oyster Shed on the ground floor of the headquarters of Japanese bank Nomura, in the City of London.

It is understood that the site, which will open this winter, will feature a number of different aspects compared to the company’s previous sites, both in design, which will be overseen by founder Jo Clevely, and offer.

Geronimo, which is led by Rupert Clevely, has taken a 20-year lease on the 7,000sq ft riverside site that comprises an external terrace of 1,600sq ft and 5.65m floor-to-ceiling curved glass frontage.

The company operates a further 26 sites across London, as well as the Red Barn in Lingfield, Surrey, and will open the Cow in Westfield Stratford City next month.

In June, the group bought the freehold of the Clarence in London’s Whitehall, for a sum just under £4m. The Young’s music pub the Half Moon in Putney, London, is also set to be transformed into a Geronimo Inns site.

Alice Keown, of Davis Coffer Lyons, which acted for Nomura, said: “1 Angel Lane offers an exceptional location for Geronimo’s newest site.”
