The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna, Somerset, has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star in the Michelin guide Great Britain & Ireland 2011.

The pub is run by former Gordon Ramsay scholar Josh Eggleton.

He bought the freehold from Punch Taverns last year.

They are one of 12 eateries awarded one star in the 2011 guide, with 123 sites holding the accolade in the UK.

But the Star Inn, Harome, run by Andrew and Jacquie Pern, has lost the Michelin star it has retained since 2002.

There are now ten pubs with a Michelin star in total — the same number as last year.

The Black Swan in Oldstead, North Yorkshire, run by the Banks family, retains their rising star which they were awarded last year and recognises eateries tipped for one, two or three stars.
