Cougar Leisure, headed by Julian Sargeson, has gone into administration.

Cougar, itself, arose from the ashes of Herald Inns & Bars' pre-pack administration. It's turnover was £15.53m for 2009.

Nigel Atkinson and Mark Fry, of Begbies Traynor, have been appointed joint administrators to the company.

Christie + Co is marketing six pubs and bars spread across the North of England.

The package, which comprises a mixture of freeholds and leaseholds, features the Brannigans branded bars in Blackpool and Manchester, Mood in Newcastle, the Spirit and View sites in Manchester, and the Boardwalk in Sheffield.

The sites are available individually or as a group.

In June last year, Cougar Leisure instructed Christie + Co to market 11 pubs and bars.

It sold the freehold of the Townhouse pub in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, to Wear Inns and the Berkley in Wigan to Amber Taverns as well as sites in Edinburgh, Liverpool and Romford.

"These sites generated significant interest from a range of parties when they initially came onto the market," said Simon Chaplin, director at Christie + Co.

"We currently have deals agreed on two of the six and expect renewed interest in the remaining sites in administration. These centrally-located sites will appeal to both national and established local operators alike."
