JD Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson is celebrating 20 years with the company as the longest serving employee, aside from chairman Tim Martin.

He began as an area manager for Wetherspoons in 1991 and progressed to the role of managing director in 1997. He has been in his current role since 1994.

"I am delighted to have achieved this milestone and look forward to many more years with the company," said Hutson.

"Between myself, Tim and Su Cacioppo, we have more than 70 years experience with Wetherspoon."

Martin founded the business in 1979 and so has 31 years with the company.

Personal and legal director Su Cacioppo is the next longest serving employee and will celebrate 20 years with the Wetherspoons in June.
