The wholesale price of draught Guinness will rise by five per cent on February 1, producer Diageo has confirmed.
The company said the hike had been "driven by a general rise in inflation and specifically higher cereal and utilities costs", following a "pricing review".
The increase will be excluding duty and VAT.
A statement from Diageo said: "We will continue to support the on-trade through our network of over 100 field sales staff who work every day to build retailer profits by driving footfall into pubs and through our network of over 100 Guinness quality executives, we are assisting our customers in serving great quality Guinness every time."
It follows news that Heineken is increasing the wholesale price of its cider products by around 7p a pint from January 10.
Other drink producers are expected to announce price hikes over the coming weeks.
