Managed pub operator JD Wetherspoon has been crowned overall winner of the Loo of the Year Awards 2010.

JD Wetherspoon has been crowned overall winner of the Loo of the Year Awards 2010.

Independent assessors investigated hundreds of toilets in UK pubs, hotels, restaurants, shopping centres and department stores.

Wetherspoons won all four awards in the pubs and wine bar category and had the highest number of four and five star winners — 38 and 150 respectively.

The Looking Glass in Warrington, the Alexander Graham Bell in Edinburgh, the Pontlottyn in Abertillery and the Diamond in Derry won individual titles.

"We are thrilled to have been named as the overall winner of the Loo of the Year Awards 2010," said head of property and acquisitions Jon Randall.

"Our staff maintain their pub toilets to the highest standards at all times and this is reflected in the assessor's inspections.

"We will continue to provide our customers with the best toilets at all times."

Toilet assessment includes cleanliness, décor, maintenance, hygiene, accessibility and management.
