Leicestershire brewer Everards has crowned a budding Yorkshire chef in its Tiger Hero cook off final.

Neil Morton from Bakewell impressed judges with his Tiger cheeks recipe, which he prepared at the Globe pub in Leicester.

"It was a great competition and I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the cook off event," said the agricultural feeds salesman.

Morton won a year's supply of Tiger Best Bitter and a £250 high street gift card.

The judging panel included Everards managing director Stephen Gould, who said: "The quality of the recipes was first class and all the contestants can feel extremely proud of themselves and their efforts. Neil's winning entry showed great flavour, creativity and was very well presented, which enabled him to achieve a sufficiently high score to take the top prize."

The runners up were Leicester based Paul Hunt with a Tiger red beef recipe and Andy Babic with his "smoking chilli" dish.

Everards launched the competition in September when entrants were asked to come up with the most creative use of Tiger Best Bitter.

The 10 best entries will go into a Tiger Hero booklet available in Everards pubs.
