A pub has managed to increase its trade, by giving away free meals.
The Rose & Crown in East Grinstead, West Sussex, has been offering customers the freebie when they spend £3 or more on drinks in one purchase.
The idea was the brainchild of Chris Pollard, licensee at the Punch Taverns owned pub, who said: "I've only been running this promotion for a month and already my trade has significantly increased. We are now serving 450 covers a week compared to 150 at the lowest before the promotion."
Punters get to choose from two daily specials which have been home cooked, past dishes include sweet and sour chicken with rice and liver and onions.
"The wet-led turnover has more than compensated for the costs of the meals and we have attracted many new customers who are coming back at different times and even trying our normal lunch menu if they don't fancy any of the free daily specials," said Pollard.
