Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Simon Jenkins has been crowned Beer Writer of the Year.
He picked up the title from 2009 champion - and Publican columnist - Pete Brown at the British Guild of Beer Writers Awards Dinner last week.
Brown, who was chairman of the judges, said: "Simon is an exceptionally talented writer. He communicates his knowledge of and passion for great beer, and pubs that serve it, in such an engaging way that anyone reading his column cannot fail to be enthused by it. Simon is an outstanding ambassador for beer and pubs."
Jenkins also won the award for best writing in the regional press.
Other winners named at the event at the Radisson Edwardian hotel in London included Stafano Cossi, of Thornbridge Brewery, who won brewer of the year.
Meanwhile, Will Beckett won for beer and food writing, Mark Dredge came top in the new media category for his blog pencilandspoon and Larry Nelson of Brewers' Guardian won trade writer of the year. The award for writing in national media went to Zak Avery and the travel award to John Conen.
Judges also gave a special mention to The Publican's Claire Dodd as 'one to watch'.
