Henry Moore pub set to re-open
A catering company and arts charity are joining forces to re-open a pub that will cater for art lovers.
Caterers Harbour & Jones and the Henry Moore Foundation have turned the Hoops Inn, in Perry Green, Hertfordshire, into a fine dining pub, re-opening on Saturday, 27 November.
The Henry Moore Foundation is leasing the pub from Hertfordshire brewer McMullen.
Candice Webber, former head chef at the Restaurant at St Paul's Cathedral, will lead the kitchen team, with former Good Pub Guide Inn of the Year winners Lowri and Mark Williams managing the project.
In keeping with Harbour & Jones's style, the menu at the 45-cover pub will be simple using ingredients from "select" producers.
Main dishes will be along the lines of seared organic salmon with English spinach and caper butter; or rib-eye steak with Hertfordshire watercress salad and roasted tomatoes. Sunday roasts will be served on wooden boards with all the trimmings, and carved at the table.
Guests can walk in the grounds and look at a collection of sculptures by Moore, who lived in Perry Green for more than 40 years.
