Sheffield pub fights for place in final on Ramsay show
Gastropub the Milestone in Sheffield will appear in the semi-final of Channel 4 show Ramsay's Best Restaurant on Tuesday (9 November).
The freehold pub won the Best British Restaurant heat of the Gordon Ramsay fronted show in October and will now compete for a place in the final in Tuesday's show.
The 100-cover pub, which is owned by Marc Sheldon and Matt Bigland, was picked for the show after beating 12,000 other nominated restaurants.
They are going head to head in the semi-final with Bradford based Indian Restaurant, Pradesh.
Sheldon said: "Business has been booming since appearing on Ramsay's show and we've had lots of new faces through the door. It is very flattering to have people come and visit from all over the UK."
Bigland and Sheldon are also to open a wine bar including an oyster bar and wine shop early next year.
The leasehold site, based around the corner from the Milestone in Sheffield's Kelham Island, will offer around 250 wines to drink in or take-away. Many of the wines are being sourced direct from vineyard owners.
A cookbook called First, Catch Your Pig is also being launched at the end of November.
Sheldon adds: "The book shares our gastronomic knowledge, the chefs' recipes and some stunning imagery of our culinary creations, farms and our own herd of pigs."
