Ale lovers and tourists are to get a great new welcome to the capital with the opening of a unique beer house at a major station.
The Grade II Listed West Lodge in the main square of Euston Station will reopen as a craft beer house called the Euston Tap next month.
Jonathan Dalton, of Bloomsbury Leisure Group, who are behind the plans, said: "Network Rail see it as a gateway to the station but were looking at having a Starbucks which would have been horrendous.
"Instead we will transform this beautiful building into a spectacular venue with two floors and American-style beer taps on the back wall instead of the bar."
Dalton added that the company have ambitious plans to promote beer which include opening a brewery in London's Russell Square next year.
Beers served at the station will be craft beers sourced from across the world, according to Dalton.
He added: "Many of the best craft beers are found in small town Bavaria and now the US. These guys don't answer phone calls, emails or pleading letters for their beer. We have literally had to turn up with our own empty kegs in the middle of Bavaria and take pot luck that the brewer will take pity on us".
John Cryne, chairman of the CAMRA North London branch, said: "These are the same people behind the Sheffield Tap at Sheffield station and we've heard very good things about their support for locally sourced beers and good ales so we are excited about them repeating that success at Euston."
