The company behind popular alcoholic ginger beer brand Crabbie's has launched a spin-off snacks range.
Crabbie's Nuts include a Luxury Ginger Spiced Dry Roasted Peanuts and Cashews Mix and the Luxury Raj Mix, which includes a blend of nuts, Indian noodles, ginger spiced peanuts and dried fruit.
They will be offered in 50g bags at an rrp of 75p. A further flavour, Crabbie's Luxury Nut Mix with Lime Pickle Flavour and Crystalised Ginger Pieces is available to the off-trade.
Drinks manufacturer Halewood International says it wants to capitalise on the £57m branded nut market and the growth in premium branded nuts. It says its target consumer is 25-45 year olds.
Richard Clark, head of innovation at Halewood International, said: "Entering the snacks category was the clear strategic choice for extending the brand beyond the UK alcoholic drink market.
"Crabbie's Ginger Nuts offer a quality range of snacking products containing ginger spices and fruits to produce a particularly moreish flavoured product for bars and at home, a natural occasion linking drinking and nuts."
The launch will be supported with a national TV advertising campaign from November as well as sampling and PoS. Halewood has promised further Crabbie's products before the end of the year. It recently launched a spiced ginger mulled wine to capitalise on Christmas trade.
