The Swan at Southrop, Gloucestershire, has received the top award in Good Food Guide 2011 Readers' Restaurant of the Year award.

The private lease pub was voted the best venue in the South West and then went on to beat nine other regional winners to take the overall title.

Chef Sebastian Snow and wife Lana took over the pub in September 2008, which is

managed by Dom and Joelle Abbott.

Freehold the Wiveton Bell in Wiveton, Norfolk, was voted the Readers' Restaurant of the Year for East England. Jamie Murch is head chef.

In the Editors' Awards, the Best Pub Newcomer accolade went to Simon Bonwick of the Three Tuns in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

The 28-cover Brakspear tenancy opened in May. The Best Pub Chef award went to Jason King of freehold the Wellington Arms, Baughurst, Hampshire.

To mark its 60th birthday, the guide lists the Top 60 restaurants, which features Shepherd Neame tenancy the Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent, at number 44.

The Michelin-starred pub is is run by chef Stephen Harris. Tom Kerridge's Hand & Flowers in Marlow,Buckinghamshire was placed 49 in the list.

The 2011 edition of the guide, out today, includes 25 new gastropub entries.
