Fans of fine ales were treated to a sneak preview of the new Fuller's Brewer's Reserve No.2 beer at the Great British Beer Festival last week.

Only one firkin (72 pints) of the new limited-edition brew was available from the brewer's stand per day and drinkers were restricted to one one-third of a pint each.

The 8.2% ABV beer has been matured for a year in Cognac barrels, which has imparted Cognac flavours into the brew.

"Beer drinkers in the UK are increasingly looking for variety in their drinks, and it is up to us brewers to provide beers that challenge them," said Fuller's head brewer John Keeling.

The beer will be launched in numbered bottles this autumn. It follows Brewer's Reserve No.1, which was matured in whisky barrels and launched in late 2008.
