An American brewery has apparently expressed an interest in buying the Highgate Brewery site in Walsall.
According to a spokesman for Empire Star Ltd, which owns the beer brands formerly brewed on the site, an enquiry was received via a third party "stating that an American brewer has shown a keen interest in the brewery and at present we are supplying them with full specifications of the site and its equipment.
"We are not able to confirm the name of the interested party at this stage, as this has not been disclosed to us, but news will be released immediately once we have a firm indication that the sale is likely to go ahead".
The US business, one of several potential buyers of the site, is believed to be the Stone Brewing Company, based in California.
The Highgate Brewery went into administration last September, being bought out in a pre-pack deal by Simon Toon and David Lindol for £80,000.
However, the group's new incarnation also collapsed last month, with the loss of more than 20 jobs.
According to the Express & Star, a local newspaper, a meeting is due to be held in September with residents to discuss the future of the site.
