The charity single released last week to help raise funds to save the Great British pub has been picked up by an independent online jukebox company.
JayBox has added 'What can we do now — (Save The Great British Pub)' to all its 300 UK sites and is available today (22 June).
British born country singer and record producer Bob James has teamed up with British Pub Week chair Inez Ward in a bid to highlight the plight of the British pub. The co-writer of the song is Tim Bushong.
"I was asked to write a song to bring to peoples attention the demise of the Great British pub," said James. "I found this very close to my heart when Inez Ward, of Save the Great British Pub, asked me if I could write a song to represent the cause."
James said he was "very happy" at JayBox's interest in the single. The company launched four years ago and offers more than 85,000 tracks.
"We are delighted to be the first network of jukeboxes to offer What can we do now - (Save The Great British Pub), to pub customers around the country," said marketing director of JayBox Richard Elsy.
Ward is delighted with the support shown by JayBox. "Pubs are vital to the nurturing of the music as this is where so many stars started their careers — including Bob James," she said.
"It's good to see a small independent company like JayBox getting behind this and I hope that the other jukebox companies will follow this example so we can see the song being played all over the country."
