A new cask ale and niche beer distributor is ready to offer its expertise to the on-trade.

The Real Beer Company has been launched to provide the licensed trade predominantly with cask ale, but also with a range of specialist beers from Belgium, Germany, Spain and Italy, and a small portfolio of local crafted niche ciders.

The Exeter-based business has a 1,000sq ft refrigerated cask store, built to Cask Marque standards.

The business also has a beer festival area set up for prospective clients to visit, to help them understand how best to lay out and promote a beer festival.

"As more and more drinks suppliers distance themselves from the customer, and rationalise their range, we at the Real Beer Company will offer a customer service that will set the benchmark in the industry," said managing director Martin Breading. "Our driver will carry a range of equipment to assist with cellar issues; he will have corks, bungs and spiles for all cask beers, and he will, where required, rack and tap the cask beers.

"With many industry experts predicting a move to specialist and niche beers, plus the great news on the growth figures on cask, I am convinced that we have positioned ourselves to take advantage of the sectors in growth and the gap in the market."

The company has been trialling its services since April and is ready to widen its distribution. It is already serving 140 outlets with cask and specialist beers and ciders.
