An Essex pub is reaping the rewards after becoming the 5,000th member of Club Peroni — Peroni Nastro Azzurro's loyalty programme.

The Peldon Rose in Peldon has been awarded 750 points to bank or exchange as part of the Club Peroni scheme.

The Club was originally introduced to reward Italian restaurants selling 330ml bottles, before extending to include pubs and bars.

Each case of Nastro Azzurro carries one point, which are collected by each outlet and 'banked' with Club Peroni. Venues accumulate points until they can redeem them for PoS material such as branded glassware or other items including iPods, LCD TVs or a luxury trip to Italy.

"We decided to list Peroni Nastro Azzurro because we are a food-led business and I believe that Peroni Nastro Azzurro is one of the best beers to accompany food," said Peldon Rose manager Adam Leydon.

"When I saw the puntos (points) on the case I thought it would be a good idea to collect them and exchange them for point of sale material such as the branded glassware or the silver tip trays.

"We're delighted that we've recruited our 5000th member," said Peroni Nastro Azzurro marketing manager Karen Raglione-Hall.

"Club Peroni has been designed to thank loyal Peroni Nastro Azzurro stockists for their commitment and for helping us build a brand which is adding value to the beer category.
