A licensee is boosting meal bookings for Father's Day (20 June) by offering dads the chance to pull their own pint.
Punch pub the Helsby Arms, in Helsby, Cheshire, is inviting all fathers to pull their own pint when booking a meal on Father's Day.
Licensee Carole Currie ran the deal last year, when 250 customers dined at the pub between 12noon and 8pm on the day.
Currie invited every dad the chance to come and pull his own pint "at opportune moments". They were allowed to pour whichever beer or lager they wanted.
"A lot of children brought along cameras to take pictures of their dads behind the bar," said Currie. "A lot of men backed out of pouring their own real ale after watching some other attempts."
A member of staff was present to talk the novice barmen through the process, and Currie said there had been "a lot of interest expressed this year".
"We've had some of the same people rebooking and I'd expect to get the same 250 covers we had last year, if not more."
Currie has stepped up the advertising for the event this year by producing a video on YouTube that plays on a loop on the pub's own screens.
ETM Group site the Gun in London's Docklands is offering a Father's Day package that includes a five-course dinner with fine wines, beers and whisky aperitifs; a post meal movie of films including Fight Club and Casino; and games including poker, Playstation 3 and Wii.
