A mobile phone application has been launched to ensure pubs can get football-mad customers through their doors during the World Cup.

The Drinksin 'Footy Pubs 2010' iPhone and Nokia app lets customers know the pubs nearest to them that are screening the big games.

And licensees are being given the chance to sign up free of charge to make sure they are registered.

All they have to do is visit the Drinksin website and follow the instructions.

A Drinksin spokesman said: "The apps work anywhere in the UK and offers fully up-to-date venue and match information, special offers and promotions from registered outlets.

"So, when users next need to find a World Cup pub, they can just tap the 'Matches Nearby' button, which uses a GPS to locate for instant access to pub showing a World Cup match right around the corner from where they're stood."
