A Humberside man has been given a two-year region-wide pub ban by magistrates under new powers introduced last year.
Thomas Clifford Jackson of Royal Mews, Hull, has been issued with a Drink Banning Order (DBO) after being convicted of Drunk and Disorderly for which he received a six-month conditional discharge.
It bans him from being drunk in places of public access in Hull, entering any licensed premises in Hull and carrying an open vessel of alcohol in any public place in Hull.
Police applied for the DBO alleging that Jackson had behaved in a drunk and disorderly manner, used threatening and offensive language towards barstaff and engaged in unacceptable conduct inside and outside pubs.
"Mr Jackson has a long history of alcohol related disorder and more recently this behaviour has been displayed by him within Hull City Centre," said anti-social behaviour co-ordinator for Hull PC Martina Akrill.
"Despite being banned from the majority of the city centre public houses, he persistently turns up drunk and when he is told to go away he becomes verbally abusive and threatens staff and police officers. He has been described by one licensee as an intimidating bully and another described how he feared for his safety and the safety of his staff.
"This behaviour will not be tolerated within the Hull City Centre which is a safe entertainment zone.
"This DBO will go a long way to resolving the issues which arise in the Hull City centre on an all too frequent basis and will assist Jackson in taking responsibility for changing his behaviour."
