BIIBAS: submit codes ahead of RICS guidelines

BIIBAS has said pub companies can submit their codes of practice for benchmarking now since the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) guidelines on rents aren't ready yet.

BII Benchmarking and Accreditation Services (BIIBAS) has encouraged pubcos to still apply for benchmarking, with formal accreditation following the release of the RICS guidelines.

BIIBAS runs the scheme under which pubcos can apply to have their codes of practice and the relationship offered with the tenant or lessee accredited and benchmarked against the criteria decided by the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) Code of Practice.

The trade body is offering the service as a way to reach agreement on other parts of the new codes whilst awaiting the final RICS guidelines, which must be incorporated into a pubco's code to achieve accreditation.

Several companies are due to meet the BII Benchmarking Committee this month.

The deadline set by the BBPA is 30 June.
