Brewers and licensees are pulling out the stops for St George's Day today with a range of activities - including raising money for charity.

Bedford brewer Wells & Young's has sent out 4,000 kits to pubs to help them celebrate England's patron saint and build awareness of the day.

The company has also been running a national press campaign with its beer Bombardier, referred to as the "Drink of England", at the centre of the push.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes has also helped launched the brewer's Champion of England campaign, aiming to find the "person who best represents everything that is positive about England".

Meanwhile, London brewer Fuller's was supporting celebrations by donating 25p from each pint sold of London Pride to the Help for Heroes charity.

Customers at Fuller's pubs buying a pint of London Pride were also being entered into a draw to win a gift pack of a London Pride dressing gown, baseball cap, beanie hat, scarf and t-shirt.

Many pubs are also hosting celebrations for the day. At the White Hart in Holsworthy, Devon, an open-air party is being held, with a live band, and local MP Geoffrey Cox is expected to attend.
