Welsh rugby legends descended on the White Lion pub in Bala ahead of a trek up Mount Snowdon.
Players including Ieuan Evans and Colin Charvis made the Brains outlet their base ahead of the climb last month, which is a warm up to another challenge.
In September, 15 former captains will scale Kilimanjaro in aid of the Stepping Stones Appeal at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff.
The 10 rugby greats staying at the White Lion were Ieuan Evans, Eddie Butler, Bleddyn Bowen, Bob Norster, Paul Thorburn, Rob Jones, Mike Hall, Colin Charvis, Emyr Lewis and Garin Jenkins.
Barry Hughes, manager of the historic coaching inn, said: "It was surreal to see 10 former captains of Wales checking into the hotel. We were delighted to have been able to support them in their preparations for Kilimanjaro and we wish them every success."
Andrew Morris, head of the Velindre Cancer Centre's fundraising, joined the captains in climbing Snowdon and will also be taking part in the Kilimanjaro Climb.
He said: "It was a gruelling and challenging day on Snowdon. It was pretty treacherous, the conditions were not great by any stretch, but thankfully we had some great hospitality the night before."
