BSKYB is preparing a legal challenge against Ofcom's interpretation of the 2003 Communications Act as it attempts to stop the regulator from forcing it to cut the prices for its sports and movie channels. Ofcom is imminently expected to rule that the charges Sky makes to competitors, such as Virgin Media, BT and Top Up TV, for such content should be subject to a maximum price cap - effectively forcing the satellite broadcaster to lower its wholesale prices.
