Prince Charles is set to visit Stoke today to celebrate the city's centenary - and will be given a pack of specially-brewed ale by a local brewer.

Keith and Dave Bott of the city's Titanic Brewery were commissioned by the council to mark 100 years of its existence.

And the brothers will hand over a special presentation pack of 'Potteries Centenary Ale' to the Prince of Wales during a civic reception.

The beer is described as a "4.8 per cent full-bodied deep golden beer with citrus notes and a clean hoppy finish".

It will be available in bottles and on draught, with Titanic donating 10 pence from every pint or bottle sold to the Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent's charity fund.

"We are thrilled to be chosen to help to celebrate the centenary of our brewery's home city," said Keith.

"Prince Charles is a great supporter of the role community style pubs play in society so we have a common cause."
