Les Routiers UK has announced the winners of its annual hospitality awards.
Somers Town Coffeehouse in London, which won Gastro Pub of the Year at The Publican's own Food & Drink Awards in November, received dining pub of the year while The Compasses Inn in Littley Green was named overall pub of the year.
Les Routiers, which has been making pub and hotel guides for over seventy years, made its decision based on customer feedback. Reports from the Compasses said that the pub was "original and untouched" with a remarkably welcoming atmosphere and a fine selection of food and ale.
Jeff Ridley, the freeholder at the Compasses Inn, said: "I didn't expect it at all.
"I think the secret to our success is that we don't try hard. We're informal at the front of house, but behind the scenes everything's run properly."
