Anti-beer tie group Fair Pint is seeking financial support from licensees to help continue its campaign.

The high profile group is asking tied licensees and others "who care about the future of the pub sector" to join up and make a minimum donation of £3 per month.

Fair Pint's Steve Corbett said its work with parliamentarians, trade bodies and the media "all takes time and money".

He addded: "We are looking for tied tenants and others who care about the future of the pub sector in the UK to support our continued campaign by joining Fair Pint and making a modest donation to support or continued efforts to deliver fairness and a future for the Great British pub."

The group has re-launched its website for 2010, which now allows supporters to sign up to a monthly subscription. It is asking for a minimum of £3 per month or £36 a year.

The home page of the new wesbite also calls for a "fair deal" for tenants, suggesting the group may have softened its position on complete removal of the beer tie.

However, further into the site it does still state Fair Pint is looking to remove the tie "from all leased pubs".

Meanwhile, Corbett said it would be a it would be a "make or break year" for the pub sector.

"Without action to force the big pub companies to change the way in which they run their businesses we will see an acceleration of the number of business failures and pub closures," he added.
