Licensees are being urged to take part in an attempt to break the world record for the largest ever pub quiz.
Charity the Family Holiday Association is organising the record attempt for March 25 in a bid to raise money for the cause, which helps disadvantaged children.
The current world record for the largest quiz across multiple venues is 1,566.
Organisers say they expect to break this record, but have admitted it may fall foul of Guinness World record rules.
Participating pubs will be given marketing materials free, including posters, balloons and a press release template.
Any pub raising more than £100 will also have the chance to win a luxury cruise.
Jacqulyn Bell of the Family Holiday Association said: "We hope that pubs all around the UK will take part in the World's Biggest Pub Quiz to raise funds to help give severely disadvantaged children a much-needed family break."
The event, which will be broadcast live on the internet, is also being supported by networking website inapub.co.uk, which is offering a free subscription to participating pubs.
Robin Brattel, Inapub founder said: "Not only are we delighted to be supporting such a worthy cause, it's great to be a part of an activity that most of people love and get lots of enjoyment out of - pub quizzes.
"I'm confident that everyone from licensees, to customers to families needing a well-deserved break will benefit from this event, so would encourage everyone to take part."
