Adnams tenants are happy with their lot, according to a survey commissioned by the Suffolk brewer.

The anonymous study from Norwich-based US2U Consulting, based on responses from 57 of Adnams' 75 tenanted pubs, found:

• 84% are motivated by their relationship with the brewery

• 98% enjoy the job they are doing

• 94% are proud to be associated with Adnams

• 96% are happy with the beer they receive

• 63% are happy with the overall range of products from Adnams

• 82% think communication between themselves and Adnams is good

Adnams has released the survey to coincide with news that its current commercial director Rob Flanagan will oversee the tied estate from January 2010.

Flanagan said: "The Adnams team has a constant dialogue with our licensees, but capturing their thoughts through an anonymous survey has been a very insightful process.

"It has been a very positive exercise and in highly competitive times, when other pub companies are approaching our licensees, it's great to know that the overwhelming majority are happy with the relationship and proud to be associated with Adnams.

"We have taken all of the comments into consideration and will continue our conversations to improve relationships for the long term."

The survey also found that 35% of tenants see the greatest threat to their businesses is increased utility bills, while 20% point to the economic recession.
