Pubs are being invited to stage their own breakfast event for charity as part of a major campaign aimed at saving lives.
Cash raised from meals laid on during the Breakfast2Live initiative, which will run from February 22 to 28 2010, will go towards the Feed the Children charity's life-saving projects in developing countries and breakfast clubs in this country.
Downloadable posters, leaflets and invites to publicise events are available on a new website - www.breakfast2live.org.uk - which launched last week. Material on the site can also be tailored for your pub.
The charity's chief executive officer Brian Main explained: "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we are asking people to take time out for just one meal to think about the thousands of children who need our help in this country and abroad.
"In the week commencing Monday February 22 we'd like pubs to run an event that will raise money for Feed The Children (UK)."
The charity is inviting pubs to host a breakfast and get food donated by local businesses, and then charge a flat fee of £5.
Other suggestions are that pubs donate a small percentage of the price of a special 'Breakfast2Live' on the menu to the charity - or to have a collection tin on the day and ask for donations to the charity from everyone eating in the pub.
Feed The Children works worldwide, as well as within the UK, to develop sustainable communities and provide food and other necessities for those in great need.
