Two former Carlsberg executives have formed their own micro-brewery, Shenstone Brew Co in Staffordshire.

Nick Shuttleworth and Chris Box's signature beer, 3 Spires at 3.8%abv, is already supplying around 30 pubs and free trade outlets in the local Shenstone area.

Major pub operators including Enterprise Inns and Punch Taverns have also agreed to list the beer, while Coors will be listing 3 Spires on its 2010 guest ale programme.

"We've had a tremendous response from both the trade and drinkers who are looking for a session beer which is a well balanced and moreish pint," said director Shuttleworth.

The ale is currently being brewed in partnership with a local brewery but Shuttleworth and Box are planning to open a new production facility within the first half of next year.

"We are currently looking at sites with a view to producing our range from a micro brewery around the Lichfield area as cask conditioned beers are growing in demand and provide a significant point of difference for pubs during these difficult times," said Shuttleworth.

Shenstone Brew Co will launch a second ale as a Christmas special from the first week of December. Further products will be introduced over the next 12 months.
