Aspall will be providing some warming festive cheer for selected top-end on-trade outlets this Christmas.

The cider producer is bringing back its mulled cider — first trialled in 30 pubs in London in 2007 — for the festive season.

The drink, which will be available on draught from now until the end of January, is designed to be served warm with slices of orange, in Aspall branded goblets.

The 4.6% abv drink is made from Aspall Draught Suffolk Cyder, sweetened with Cox apple must and blended with rich mulling spices to create a flavour reminiscent of bitter sweet toffee apples. The cider has the added benefit of filling each outlet with warming aromas of citrus fruits and traditional mulled spices such as cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

"Like all our products, our mulled cyder is made from 100% apple juice, to provide the best quality taste possible," said commercial director Geoff Bradman. "Last year we sold three times the mulled cyder volumes of 2007 and the growing list of on-trade customers who sell the product are already forecasting a similar success story this year."
