More than 45,000 people work for the Carlsberg Group, and their products are sold in more than 150 markets. In 2008 they sold more than 120 million hectolitres of beer, which is about 100 million bottles of beer a day.
The UK market is one of the largest markets for Carlsberg, who have grown from strength to strength since the first barrel of Carlsberg Export was delivered to Scotland in 1868. Carlsberg today owns household names in their brand portfolio such as Tuborg, Carlsberg Export, Tetley's, Skol, Ansells, Draught Burton Ale, Holsten, Poretti and more recently San Miguel, the No.1 World Lager in the UK and Baltika, the fastest growing lager in the World.
Carlsberg UK are one of the main brewer wholesalers in the UK market selling not just beer, but a large range of wines, spirits, soft drinks, flavoured beverages, gas and cleaning products through a number of routes to market, including their own free trade customers. Employing over 2000 people in their 16 sites across the UK, including the main brewery headquarters in Northampton and the Tetley's brewery in Leeds the company are the last remaining brewer to own and operate their own distribution network.
More recently Carlsberg embarked on a new marketing strategy called We Deliver More. Seeing the declining market, reduction in operating pubs and the need to support the publican with innovative ideas and solutions the company has spent the past 18 months developing an innovate system that our customers can use to benefit and support their business for people, sales and savings.

A little fact that many people don't know:
Carlsberg are half owned by the Carlsberg Foundation, a charitable trust created by the founder JC Jacobsen. The foundation own 51% of Carlsberg shares and use the profits from the group to fund science and the arts for future generations.
Just one of the many projects currently funded is the early stage research into the newly-identified micro RNA gene family which appears to play a key role in bio-diversity, at the University of Copenhagen.
