Abbot Ale will make a TV appearance from the end of this week as part of a campaign featuring Brian Blessed.
Green King's Abbot Ale will sponsor Friday nights on Dave and Dave Ja Vu as part of a campaign designed to remind drinkers about Abbot Ale, as well as prompting thoughts of excellent tale-telling down the pub.
The 'Classic Tales from a Classic Ale' features Brian Blessed in the famous Hawley Arms in Camden with a pint of Abbot, telling jokes in his larger-than-life manner. A massive eruption of laughter completes each scene, which aims to seal the association between the beer, the pub and having a good time.
"Abbot is the most popular premium cask beer in London and among the top two nationwide," said the brewer's marketing director, Fiona Hope. "It is a real beer lover's beer - a true classic that appeals to people of discerning tastes, people who will thoroughly appreciate Brian's story-telling performance. The TV campaign will reach over a million 35 to 54 year-old ABC1 men over 10 times. We have solid evidence of how this helps drive sales."
Fans will also be able to obtain their own special glass Abbot tankard, while Abbot Ale Reserve, which will also be participating in the tankard campaign, will return in November and will be available until December.
