More brewers have pledged their support to British forces flying home after completing their tour of duty in Afganistan.

Everards has donated cases of its Tiger Best Bitter to the RAF-led Beer for the Boys campaign, which aims to provide servicemen and women with a cool beer during their return flight.

And Fullers said it will be donating cans of its London Pride to the campaign. The news follows last week's announcement from Marston's, which said it would donate its Marston's Pedigree.

"The principle is that a cold beer thrust into the hand once the TriStar is safely away from the ground and out of harm's way marks the point where he knows he is going home after six months of fighting," said Wing Commander Steve Chadwick who conceived the campaign. "It is just a token, but an important one."

Alcohol is not available to British troops while serving in Afghanistan, making the experience of a cold thirst-quencher on the flight home all the more special.
