'Comfort' menu from JDW
JD Wetherspoon's new menu focuses on British comfort dishes and bigger portions.
The menu, out on 30 September, features new dishes including steak and kidney pudding with chips, peas and gravy (£3.99); cheese and onion pasty and chips (£2.99); giant beer-battered fish and chips (£5.99) and jam sponge pudding (£2.99).
The company has also extended the range of dishes featuring Dragons' Den winner Levi Root's Reggae Reggae sauce.
A nacho dish using the sauce was launched on the company's May menu and a Reggae Reggae chicken wrap and buffalo wings have been added. Customers also have the option of adding Reggae Reggae tomato sauce as a topping on burgers and steaks.
The breakfast menu now offers a choice between black pudding or a large flat mushroom, as part of the traditional or large breakfast.
The company has also made additions to its weekly club nights. The Sunday club now offers a large roast and a drink for an extra £1.50. The Tuesday night steak club offers six beer-battered onion rings and a sauce added to a main choice for an extra £1.49.
The wine choice has been improved in the company's "two steaks and a bottle of wine offer", with a choice of Blossom Hill rosé, Hardys Chardonnay or Shiraz.
Three new curries have been added to the weekly curry club menu. Aubergine and spinach dhansak and chicken balti both contain 5% fat or less, and a Malabar king prawn curry has been added to the luxury section.
Customers can now also add an extra shot of espresso to their coffees for 30p. Profiteroles and jam sponge
pudding have been added to the "add a dessert for £1.99" club offer.
A 125ml wine serving has also been introduced. A single glass will be used for all wine, but with three line measures for 125ml, 175ml or 250ml wine servings.
