Shadow health minister Mike Penning MP has been unveiled as the keynote speaker at the Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) Conference later this month.

Penning will join other speakers discussing the future of the industry at the September 16 event including Bacardi Brown-Forman chief executive Mark De Witte, Direct Wines chief executive Simon McMurtrie and Sainsbury's Beers Wines and Spirits category manager Justin James.

The conference will also hear the latest market analysis from researchers Nielsen, CGA and Wine Intelligence.

WSTA chief executive Jeremy Beadles said: "This is an excellent opportunity to draw on the expertise of some of the biggest names in the trade after what has undoubtedly been a challenging year.

"There is little doubt that the sector is changing shape and it will be instructive to hear how companies are adapting to changing consumer tastes and a changing marketplace."

The conference is taking place at BAFTA in Piccadilly in London.
