Greene King has launched a new beer to celebrate London, which will be available in some of the capital's classic pubs.

Launched today, Royal London (4% abv) is billed as rich, fruity and full of flavour, combining crystal malt with challenger and golding hops.

It will be included in Greene King's new Capital Cask Ale Trail, guide to top beer pubs in London.

Drinkers taking part get their vouchers stamped by participating pubs every time they order a pint of Royal London or other Greene King cask beer. The completed voucher can then be exchanged for a free Capital Cask Ale Trail t-shirt. Maps will be available in featured pubs.

Mike Fitzgerald, Greene King Pub operations director for London & South East said: "A beer dedicated to London is of course a great pull for the city's many tourists and visitors here on business.

"Britain's cask beer is renowned the world over: it's the jewel in London's crown that everyone wants to experience.

"We're very excited to showcase our new London brew, created with best quality and craftsmanship, in some of the capital's finest pubs. What a fantastic combination."

Pubs featured in the Ale Trail include The George at Southwark, a former haunt of Charles Dickens and The Sherlock Holmes in Westminster, home to memorabilia provided by the family of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

There's also the Old Tea Warehouse in Aldgate, former site of a monastery graveyard and the East India Tea Company.

The entrance to the New Moon in Leadenhall Market, which is also featured, has been used in several films including Tomb Raider, James Bond and Harry Potter.
