1. Why are you supporting Sell More, Save More 3?
"We supported the programme last year and our team was able to offer advice that made a tangible difference to outlets. For us, it wasn't simply about selling wine. We sat down with each outlet and listened to their challenges.
"We were able to respond with tailored solutions and advice that not only offered increased margins on the wine selection but also provided bespoke staff training as well as event suggestions that would help boost trade.
"ViVAS is more than just a wine supplier. We create a partnership with our customers and support them with a comprehensive service that extends beyond the wine list. We offer value by delivering our customers bespoke solutions to meet their needs."
2. What category will you be focussing on?
"We will be supporting outlets with their wine offer and will work with them to explore all avenues to drive sales and increase margins."
3. What core advice will you be giving the chosen pubs?
"It is difficult to say what key themes we will be developing with pubs, especially in the current economic climate. We will adopt a tailored approach - every single pub is different and we will be going in with an open mind, listening to the outlet's needs and then working in partnership to identify the opportunities and strategy accordingly.
"As you know, ViVAS is a wine business created by leading foodservice wholesaler 3663 First for Foodservice and independent wine company Bibendum Wine Ltd. The strength that ViVAS brings to the table is our extensive knowledge on the industry - not only about wine but the also the wider business issues that affect trade.
"The ViVAS team knows that wine can be a confusing subject whether it be sourcing or communicating the offer to customers, which is where we can make a difference with a straightforward no nonsense approach.
"We believe wine should be fun and engaging, and our approach aims to make the wine category as easy and approachable as possible. The company delivers great wines and sound advice that represent real value at every level regardless of price."
4. How often do you plan to visit the participating pubs?
"We will be working with each of the participants to support them in a way that they feel comfortable with, whether that be regular monthly visits or bi-monthly visits. Last year we found that some publicans wanted to see us more frequently than others. It will depend on the activity we create and agree with each outlet."
5. What is your message to freehouses looking to get involved in Sell More, Save More 3?
"Our advice? Do it. We are in the most challenging trading conditions that have ever been experienced. The programme allows you to benefit from very experienced partners who want to see your business grow.
"We are not here to interfere. We don't see this as an opportunity to sell more - we genuinely want you to prosper. Last year one of the outlets told us that he was working on his own and that it really benefited him to get other people's opinions. His words to us were: 'you know you are doing the right thing because instinct tells you so, but it is really good to hear it from someone else too'. "
